Woodland Garden

This garden belongs to a charming Victorian house nestled deep in the woods, where the architecture and setting called for a design that felt timeless, understated, and quietly in tune with its surroundings.

nestled in a secluded, leafy setting, this garden was designed to feel as though it had always belonged – a natural extension of the house and its woodland surroundings. The clients wanted an outdoor space that would harmonise with the historic character of their home, while also serving the evolving needs of family life.

Today, it's a space full of life and purpose – where their children have room to play freely, where dad prepares meals in the open air, and where family and friends gather together throughout the seasons. Every element was considered to create a sense of connection – to the house, and to the surrounding landscape.

A Millboard deck extends out from the terrace, cantilevered over the lower garden to make more of the available space and drawing the eye outward into the landscape. It serves as both a platform for family life and a bold architectural gesture. The bespoke outdoor kitchen, with its whimsical Haensel and Gretel charm, functions as a BBQ and a fireplace in one – creating a focal point that's both playful and practical. Warm and characterful, it anchors the space while adding a sense of story and atmosphere.
