This outdoor entertainment space links to the unapologetically grand, contemporary extension of a Tunbridge Wells family home.

the design includes a wellness area with jacuzzi, an outbuilding for a gym, and another for a changing room. The wellness complex was recessed to reduce the visual impact of the buildings and create a sheltered zone for sunbathing and a ping pong table.

We had input into the palette used for the extension and specified a porcelain that could be used inside and out to connect the two areas visually.

The large outdoor kitchen holds a range of cooking equipment and includes a bar with an illuminated 3D bar front, which serves as a visual centrepiece.

Black fluted cladding carries through from the house to the outbuildings and the large planters. The planters repeat along the axis that runs from the front of the house, via a glass walkway, to the sculpture at the very rear of the garden. The sculpture represents the five members of the family, and its position and visibility symbolises the priorities of the clients who are active and sociable, and enjoy each other's company.

Planting throughout has been strategically located to counterbalance the minimalist line of the architecture and landscaping and to maintain a view with a garden feel from the house year-round.

Lighting transforms the garden at night creating interest and depth beyond the glass.
